About the Irish Red and White Setter

The Irish Red and White Setter is the older of the two Irish setter types, documented since the 17th century. The solid-red Irish Setter was bred out from this parti-colored stock; the red-and-white variety was nearly extinct by the 1920s and rebuilt from a small surviving pool.
