About the Komondor

The Komondor is a Hungarian livestock guardian breed documented back to the 9th-century Magyar migration into the Carpathian Basin. The white corded coat evolved as protection from wolves and cold; the cords form naturally as the adult coat matures. AKC recognition dates to 1937.
